Ayurveda starts with a simple question
Why does the same green smoothie feel great for one person — and heavy for another? Why does one person come alive in the heat while another wilts?
Ayurveda doesn't answer this with calories or macro tables, but with an ancient, surprisingly precise model: the three doshas.
The three doshas — briefly
Vata (air & space) governs movement, creativity, quick thinking. In balance: light, inspired, flexible. Out of balance: restless, cold, anxious, sluggish digestion.
Pitta (fire & water) governs transformation, focus, willpower. In balance: clear, courageous, productively fiery. Out of balance: irritable, hyper-critical, inflammation-prone, headaches.
Kapha (earth & water) governs structure, calm, nourishment. In balance: grounded, warm-hearted, reliable. Out of balance: heavy, sluggish, clingy, congested.
Every person carries all three — usually with one or two dominant forces.
Why it's worth knowing
When you know your constitution, you stop working against your body. You understand why you need more warmth in winter than your colleague. Why late dinners steal your sleep. Why structure isn't a cage — it holds you.
And more importantly: you learn to recognize which dosha is currently out of balance — and find gentle, everyday paths back.
How to find your balance
A dosha quiz is a nice starting point but doesn't replace a conversation. Constitution and current imbalance are two different things — and that's where real Ayurveda work begins.
